cpanminus is a script to get, unpack, build and install modules from CPAN.

Why? It’s dependency free, requires zero configuration, and stands alone. When running, it requires only 10MB of RAM.

Why

The default cpan client often consumes too much memory to be a viable option for installing CPAN modules on a shared hosting account. If your cpan process doesn’t get killed by the shared hosting provider’s watchdog, you might just find it painfully slow. Cpanminus was specifically written to solve this problem.
